Transition Town Stafford is part of the ever expanding Transition Movement responding to the twin challenges of Climate Change and Peak Oil (the end of cheap oil.)

Informally started in 2005, Transition Totnes was the first ever Transition Initiative. The grand unveiling of the community based project attracted 400 locals in 2006 when the project became official and has since been the benchmark and most effective Transition Town in the world.

Now in 2008, Stafford is hoping to address the same issues that over 70 over initiatives have been working on across the globe.
